Yamaha, YCL85-II, A Clarinet
This is a near mint condition, Yamaha Custom YCL85 II A clarinet. It is received wisdom within the music industry that when Yamaha launch a new product, they will have made every conceivable effort to outdo their competitors, at a considerably cheaper price to the customer. So it was in the late 1970's and early 1980's, when Yamaha made their first serious foray into top of the range professional clarinets. The wood was computer controlled, kiln dried, to assist in avoiding cracking, the silver plate, and key work, was of considerably better quality than Buffet. Many players found the ease with which these instruments responded completely won them over. Eddie Daniels, the world's foremost jazz player was such a convert: Perhaps surprisingly he preferred and endorsed the YCL62/64/65 range to the YCL82/84/85 which were Yamaha's most expensive Custom model. The Yamaha YCL85 II was the last incarnation of the range and was the top professional model in the 1980s.
The clarinet has no cracks or damage to the wood, which is pristine throughout. This A S/N 01136, has just been through our workshop for an overhaul in fish skin pads, and is sold with our full 1 year warranty. The Silver plated key work is perfect throughout, with no wear. This clarinet is equal to Buffet Prestige specification, with adjustable thumb rest and LH Ab/Eb lever. The supplied m'piece, is the original Yamaha 4C, as is the case, which is in good used condition.
