A Robert Paris A Clarinet
This A Robert Paris A clarinet is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. Alexandre Robert was a French manufacturer in Chateau-Thierry active from 1900 until about 1925. He had worked for Evette & Schaeffer, and had extensive knowledge of clarinet making. This instrument would appear to date from the 1920s and is in good condition for its age. The matching serial numbers are 3651. There is one repaired, pinned crack to the upper joint from the top trill key hole to the top tenon, see photo 2. There is also a tight hairline crack to the barrel. The German Silver keywork is excellent throughout, as are the used fish skin pads. The instrument plays very well, with fine intonation, and comes with a modern Windcraft mouthpiece. It will twin well with any modern Bb French bore clarinet.
