Leblanc, Paris, Alto Clarinet
This is a Leblanc, Paris, professional model, Grenadilla wood Alto Clarinet in excellent condition. The condition of the silver plating is very fine throughout, there is no wear, only a little tanish. Given that the instrument is likely over 50 years old the plating is exemplary. The crook and bell are likewise in superb condition, with no dents or damage. It is obvious that this Alto has not belonged to an institution [as so many examples did] and these often showed signs of less than careful use. The wood throughout is in excellent condition with no cracks or damage. The matching serial numbers are 7711, which probably dates to the 1970s. The white leather pads are in very good condition throughout. All pieces are matching and original. The mouthpiece is the original Leblanc, which plays well with Vandoren No. 3 reeds. There is also a sling hook, and a sling. The case is worn but fully functional, the main wear is to the handle which has lost its eather cover. Given that the cheapest professional Alto, a Yamaha now retails for just under £7000 new, this instrument is excellent value.
