Leblanc, Paris, ContraBass Clarinet to low E Flat
This is a professional model Leblanc, Paris, BBb straight Contrabass clarinet, in metal, Model 342, range to low Eb. The instrument is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct.
The instrument is in good condition, with only slight spot wear to the plating. There are only a few minor dings to the bell, apart from this there is no damage or repairs.
The locking screw holder for securing the 2 main joints has lost part of the bracket
[ see photo 16], but it still functions as it should, i .e. to secure the 2 main pieces together. The pads, which are tan leather, are all in very good condition. The springs are gold plated to preserve from rust. The serial nos., matching on all 3 pieces, are 445, dating to the 1960s. Having been completely "checked down" in our workshop this Contra will play perfectly out of the box. The corks and regulation are all in good working order. The case shows much wear and repairs to all corners and the interior. The new owner will have to factor in the cost of a replacement case soon. There are 2 supplied mouthpieces, the original and a Fobes Debut, a student model, in very good condition. There are used reeds and 2 ligatures supplied. The Leblanc Vito straight ContraBass in resonite, a student model, [sometimes these days erroneously described as a professional model] retails new for over £11,500
