Matched Pair of Selmer Recital Clarinets
An excellent matched pair of Selmer Recital clarinets in Silver plate. These instrument are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct, and have an impressive Provenance: The pair was bought from Selmer Paris direct, selected from many examples the young player selling them now, and her Professor, Joy Farral. This pair are the latest incarnation of the Recital [which has been in production for nearly 50 years and is one of Selmers iconic designs], and feature an ebonite lined bore, so that in the event of a crack to the wood there is no effect on the response.
The Bb, matching S/N S006186 AA [AA denotes ebonite lined bore] does have a small surface crack to the upper joint, which has been repaired at Howarths. The repair is in the vicinity of the two top trill key holes, but is completely invisible to the eye and camera. The plating overall is very good with no loss. Both instruments have white leather leather pads throughout which are in excellent condition. The key regulation is good, there is no joint wobble. The A S/N T00441 AA has no cracks or repairs, and like the Bb the silver plate is excellent throughout apart from a small patch of "blueing" to the LH "pinky" cluster. All pieces are original and stamped Selmer, there are no less than 6 barrels: These measure, 62.0mm, 62.5mm, 2 of 63.0mm, 64.00 and 64.5mm. The case is the original Selmer, it is used, but in excellent condition. These instruments have been exceptionally well cared for, and represent a considerable cost saving on a new pair.
