Howarth, S1, B Flat Clarinet
A good condition Howarth S1 Bb clarinet in Grenadilla wood, which was the first professional clarinet that Howarth manufactured, designed to compete with the Buffet Prestige range. The S1 model was designed by the late Jon Steward, and features some innovative key work to minimise touch cork wear. At 14.85mm bore it is free blowing, and very well in tune.
The wood throughout is in good condition, with no cracks or damage, apart from what is either a tight hailine crack or pronounced wood grain on the shorter cocobolo wood barrel. The pads are mainly fish skin all in very good condition, with the lower trill keys and register key in cork. The silver plated key work shows some tarnish & only a bit of wear to the RH ring fingers. The Bb has matching serial nos. are 1039. The supplied m'piece is a used Vandoren 5RV. The Schwenk and Seggelke single case is also in good condition.
