Vito/Along Model 35 Rationale, Alto Saxophone, Tony Coe Collection
A rare Leblanc, Vito, Systeme Rationale Model 35, "Johnny Hodges", Alto Saxophone. This instrument has an impressive Provenance having been last owned by the legendary British Jazz player, Tony Coe. Tony was probably one of the most successful Jazz clarinettists of his generation, and was a member of many bands including Humphrey Lyttleton's and John Dankworth's. Tony had a great interest in German/Austrian made clarinets featuring the improved Schmidt Kolbe, and Schmidt Reform Boehm systems. Basically the premise of these systems is that there should always be no closed holes underneath the open hole of the note being produced. In simplistic terms this is also the design ethos of Leblanc's Systeme Rationale Alto Sax.
This example is in excellent used condition, with fine condition leather pads, and little lacquer wear. The serial number is 3167A. The case is a Hiscox which has one tear to the interior lining but is otherwise in good condition.
