Rampone Cazzani, R1, Soprano Saxophone, Tony Coe Collection
This is a Rampone & Cazzani half-curved R1 Jazz Soprano in silver, which is in fair condition. This is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct, having been owned and much played by the British Jazz player, Tony Coe. Tony Coe was probably one of the most successful Jazz musicians of his generation, and was a member of many bands including Humphrey Lyttleton's and John Dankworth's.
Please note this instrument has not been through our workshop for any service or adjustments. It is exactly as was used by Tony. Please examine the photos carefully: There is much wear, and, a missing tightening screw to the neck, as well as some damage to the bell rim and tape to the crook. The pads are probably the original in tan leather which are well used. The new owner will have to factor in some repairs, possibly sending the instrument back to R & C. The serial numbers are 92463, and the instrument comes in a poor John Packer case which has a broken zip, a belt is used to secure the case shut
