Selmer, Mark VI Soprano Saxophone Tony Coe Collection
This is a Mark VI Selmer Soprano Sax, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct, having been owned and much played by the British Jazz player, Tony Coe. Tony Coe was probably one of the most successful Jazz musicians of his generation, and was a member of many bands including Humphrey Lyttleton's and John Dankworth's.
Please note this instrument has not been through our workshop for any service or adjustments. It is exactly as was used by Tony. The Selmer Paris Soprano is considered the finest in the World due to its excellent ergonomics, and the Mark V1 is considered the epitome of Selmer's production.
The Soprano has serial nos. 186295, which dates it to 1971. The original lacquer shows much wear, as seen in the photographs. There are no major dents, only one minor ding in the area beneath the thumb rest. The key work is in excellent condition. This instrument has tan leather pads throughout [mainly Gordon Beeson], which whilst used, are sealing well. The regulation is good, however, to be put into optimum playing condition, the new owner should factor in at least a minor service. The Champion case is in good used condition. The Morgan Vintage No.7 m'piece is in very good condition.
