Matched Pair of Buffet R13 Clarinets
A good condition matched pair of enhanced Boehm vintage Buffet R13 clarinets, which are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. Their owner was a professional player and repairman, and they have been well maintained. The Bb has matching serial nos. F57182, and the A S/N 57791 which date the pair to 1957, both clarinets feature an articulated C#/G# key. Back then these were the finest professional instrument Buffet made, with unstained, matched wood. This was before the introduction of the ""Prestige" range, which effectively downgraded the standard R13 considerably. These days R13's are made from inferior quality wood which is stained to hide imperfections. All pieces are matching and original, and stamped "Buffet". The German Silver keywork is in good condition throughout, with a natural surface patina. The wood is also in good used condition, with only minor surface marks and scratches. Both clarinets have had a thorough "check down " in our workshop, with pads and corks replaced as necessary. One of the bells have the stamp of the sole UK importer for Buffet at that time, "Dallas". The m'piece is a used Vandoren 5RV. The case is an old Boosey & Hawkes in fair condition.
