Yamaha CSG III H, B Flat Clarinet, Tony Coe Collection
An excellent condition Yamaha CSGH CUSTOM III Bb clarinet, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. This instrument has an impressive Provenance having been hand selected from many examples by the legendary British Jazz player, Tony Coe.
[Over the next few weeks Clarinets Direct will be listing many iconic instruments from the Tony Coe collection, including the Selmer Mark VI Tenor, used for the sound track recordings of the Pink Panther Films, A Shot in the Dark, and subsequent films in the series, as well as the Mancini recordings.] Tony was probably one of the most successful Jazz clarinettists of his generation, and was a member of many bands including Humphrey Lyttleton's and John Dankworth's. Yamaha made great claims for the CSG range; a new bore design is supposed to provide great tonal richness, as found in older instruments made from properly aged Grenadilla.
This Bb clarinet, with matching serial nos. 02847 has wood which is finest unstained Grenadilla, without cracks, damage or blemish of any kind. The instrument has excellent condition finest white leather pads with some on the upper joint in cork. The Hamilton plating is in perfect condition, with no wear. There are 2 barrels. The supplied original case has one interior lining tear, but apart from that is in good condition.
