Matched Pair of Karl Hammerschmidt Clarinets
An extremely rare and fine matched pair of Karl Hammerschmidt & Son "Klingson" enhanced Boehm clarinets. These are the model 46h which feature an additional key on the upper joint for facilitating all tremolos or trills to throat Bb, i.e. all LH shakes from A-Bb, down to middle C-Bb, and an additional touch piece for RH 1 for trilling to C-C#/G-G#.
These instruments were bought new in 1972 and are a one owner pair in exceptional condition. There is no damage to the wood, or silver plating, which is pristine. We have just fully overhauled the pair in finest Pisoni fish skin pads, and the pair are sold with our full 1 year warranty. The Bb has matching serial nos. 69928, and the A 69927. They play with a classic Viennese warmth and roundness to the sound with exemplary intonation. They would suit a Boehm system player looking for a classic Viennese tone, but unwilling to learn the Oehler system. The pair come with an impressive amount of provenance, including original manufacturers' receipts & insurance schedules, which prove that they were first insured in 1972 for £300. Also brochures of the period. The supplied original m'piece plays very well with modern Vandoren No. 3 reeds. the original case is worn but functional, the dust cover is very worn and the zip has failed
