This is a custom made Grenadilla wood bell for a Leblanc Basset Horn. This bell was originally commissioned from Ted Planas by Hale Hambleton, ex Orchestra of ENO, for his Leblanc LL Basset Horn. Subsequently it was used by Hale for numerous recordings and performances, including the soundtrack for the film "Amadeus". The bell used to be rested on teh floor without using a floor peg. Consequently theer are some minor chips to the bell rim and marks to the bell bottom, see photos 2 and 4. This aside, the bell is in excellent condition. Howarths later also offered this design of bell as a custom order.
