Simiot, copy by Bangham, A Clarinet
This is a copy of an 8 key Boxwood Simiot A Clarinet by Daniel Bangham. It was formerly owned by Katherine Spencer of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and plays at A= 430Hz. There appears to have been some slight rethinking on the lower part of the instrument as the bottom tenon of the third joint has been left short so that the bell is effectively lengthened. The first two holes on the second joint were also repositioned to aid players with smaller hands so that the stretch to cover is reduced. The instrument is in superb condition, with no cracks or damage to the boxwood or faux ivory rings. It comes in a later 1930s double case, and with a Bangham resin copy m'piece in excellent condition which plays with modern 2-2.5 Eb reeds.
