Matched Pair of Selmer Series 10 Full Boehm Clarinets
The Selmer Series 10 was the first of the narrow bore, heavily undercut Selmer clarinets which owed much of their design ethos to the Buffet R13. This is a pair of rare Full Boehm clarinets which are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct, their last owner being Tom Watmough of the LPO. The Bb has matching serial numbers, S/N Z3252, dating to 1976, and has wood and Nickel Silver plate in fair condition. The wood shows some scuffs and the nickel plate is worn throughout, mainly to the ring fingers. The bell is from a Selmer 10S Bb clarinet. The clarinet has good condition tan pads fitted throughout. The A has matching serial numbers, A2238, dating to 1978. There is some wear and tarnish to the Nickel plate, but overall the instrument is in better condition than the Bb. In addition to the single Series 10 barrel, there are 2 further 10S barrels, another Selmer barrel, and an unbranded barrel. The pads are tan leather in good condition. The case is a BAM which has some cracking to the exterior, but protects the pair well. These instruments represents outstanding value for money, as for about the price of a student wooden clarinet, one can purchase a top of the line pair of Selmer professional clarinets, which play very well despite their cosmetic appearance.
