Matched Pair of Selmer Odyssee Clarinets
This is an excellent condition matched pair of Selmer, Paris, Odyssee Clarinets, which are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. These clarinets have had only one adult UK professional owner from new, who bought them just prior to the first COVID lockdown. Consequently the Bb has seen little use, and the A even less. Selmer clarinets are undoubtedly amongst the best designed French instruments worldwide. The Odyssee was Selmer's entry level professional model. Like the Selmer Signature the upper joint features a large reversed cone which narrows to 14.5mm. This results in exceptionally accurate twelfths, and overall the intonation is superior to most other French designed instruments today.
The Grenadilla wood shows no cracks or damage, it is in perfect condition. The Silver plate is also pristine throughout. The Bb clarinet has matching serial numbers, N08876. It has excellent condition tan leather pads throughout. The A has matching serial numbers PO0711, it has the original white leather pads throughout, again in excellent condition. The look and solid feel of the key work of these clarinets is far superior to contemporary Buffet manufacture, and indeed it was this, and the exemplary intonation, which occasioned the choice of this pair over competitors from other major manufacturers. There are two original barrels for each clarinet which measure 64.5 mm & 66.5 mm for the Bb, and 65mm, and 66.5mm for the A. The case is a BAM in excellent condition.
