Luis Rossi, Viennese, B Flat Clarinet
This is a rare, possibly unique, wide bore custom B Flat clarinet made by Luis Rossi, for a New Orleans based Jazz player. The last owner who used this clarinet extensively was the British Jazz clarinettist, Adrian Cox. This instrument is a Rossi Viennese bore model [15.2mm], based on a Koktan clarinet, it uses B&H 1010 bore m'pieces, not standard French bore m'pieces. The original owner specified a reduced number of keys, his belief was that additional tone holes detracted from tonal resonance and power. Please examine the photos in detail, as this clarinet has 13 keys and 6 rings, it features a booster mechanism fror throat Bb, and demonstrates Luis Rossi's usual tonal depth and excellent intonation throughout. The serial number is V322. There are no cracks or damage, to the Grenadill a wood, apart from one surface crack to the 56.5mm barrel which has been sealed with super glue. There are also barrels of 59mm and 61mm. The tan leather pads ae all in very good condition, as is the original case, and supplied Vandoren 5JB m'piece, which has been bored out to 1010 dimensions.
