Buffet, BC20, B Flat Clarinet
When the American investor Martin Tolchin bought Buffet Crampon company he felt that though the R13 sold well in the USA different models would be more successful in Europe. The S1, Continentale and BC20, which evolved into the RC, were all attempts to make darker, more focused sounding clarinets.
This is a BC20 Bb clarinet, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct, with matching serial nos. F241552 dating to 1983. Buffet Crampon described this model as being designed for Recital and Orchestral playing. The Silver plated key work is in good order throughout, with only slight wear to LH F#/C# , throat A key, and register key. The wood is in good condition, apart from two small chips to the exterior edge of the top tenon of the upper joint, ad a full length crack to the bell, which we have sealed externally in our workshop. The instrument has had a full re-pad with Pisoni Premium Deluxe fish skin pads in our workshop, and this work is guaranteed for 1 year, as is the crack repair. The m'piece is a used Vandoren 5RV , in good condition. The supplied case comes with the key & is also in good used condition, apart from one exterior chip to the underside, see photo 14.
