George Bundy, B Flat, Clarinet
A Geo. Bundy Paris Bb metal clarinet which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. George Bundy became a manager for Selmer in 1927 [later moving to Elkhart Indiana to manage the USA division of Selmer], and Selmer were the largest and best known maker of metal clarinets at this time. It is likely that therefore that this is a "trade name" or a stencil. Certainly the design is advanced, for a what is most likely a pre-war clarinet, with a fully sleeved adjustable barrel which allows for a varying length with out any discontinuity in the bore [this was again a design featured by Selmer Paris with their Radio Improved clarinets of the early 1930s]. It is in good used condition with no damage, and has fine condition mostly used fish skin and tan leather pads throughout. The silver plating is fair condition with wear and some tarnish throughout. This clarinet has been down to our workshop for a thorough "check over" and regulation with 2 pads replaced on the upper joint prior to sale. The m'piece is a Dearman 4*, which tunes this instrument well. The case is very worn, fit for shipping, but the next owner will have to factor in the cost of a new case soon.
