Howarth S1 B Flat Clarinet
A very fine condition Howarth S1 Bb clarinet in Grenadilla wood, which was the first professional clarinet that Howarth manufactured, designed to compete with the Buffet Prestige range. This clarinet has been professionally owned and has just been taken in part exchange by ourselves. The S1 model was designed by the late Jon Steward, and features some innovative key work to minimise touch cork wear. At 14.85mm bore it is free blowing, and very well in tune.
The wood throughout is in superb condition, with no cracks or damage. There is no joint wobble. The fish skin pads are used but all in very good condition. The Silver plated key work is in very good condition throughout with only a tiny bit of "blueing" to the keys at the bottom of the upper joint. The Bb has matching serial nos. are 1038. In addition to the original 66.5mm barrel in Grenadilla wood, the last owner had Howarths supply a 64mm cocobolo wood barrel. The clarinet comes in a Buffet leather case.
