Selmer, Paris, B Flat Clarinet
A very good condition early logo Selmer, Paris, enhanced Boehm Bb Clarinet, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. This clarinet has an articulated C#/G#. Selmer clarinets were a quantum leap forward in clarinet design, possibly the best instruments of French manufacture available in the 1920s. Certainly the company enjoyed phenomenal sales success amongst professional players worldwide. This clarinet has very indistinct, serial numbers 3167[?], which probably dates to the early 1920s. This would account for the Cocus wood bell, as this practice, designed to add resonance to the bell tones, was common at that time. The German Silver keywork shows a natural patina due to is age. The Grenadilla wood is in good condition, with no cracks or damage. The barrel is a modern Buffet replacement. The clarinet has good condition fish skin pads throughout. The case is functional but in poor condition, and the supplied m'piece is a Selmer B*.
