Pair of Yamaha CSG III Clarinets
A mint condition pair of Yamaha CSGH CUSTOM III clarinets, which are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. These instruments have an impressive Provenance having been hand selected from many examples by Colin Parr, ex-Principal Clarinet with the CBSO. Colin has just transitioned back to a wide bore English 1010 pair, and these instruments were bought new about 1 year ago. Yamaha made great claims for the CSG range; a new bore design is supposed to provide great tonal richness, as found in older instruments made from properly aged Grenadilla. Certainly the design has found much favour with many fine players, including Michael Collins, Nicholas Carpenter and Nicholas Cox.
The Bb clarinet, matching serial nos. 03323, has wood which is finest unstained Grenadilla, without cracks, damage or blemish of any kind. The instrument has excellent condition finest white leather pads with some on the upper joint in cork. The Hamilton plating is in perfect condition, with no wear. The A has matching serial nos. 01749. Like the Bb the pads condition is excellent. The wood and Hamilton plating are in perfect condition. This clarinet comes with the low F correction key, which Colin did not feel was necessary on the Bb. This opinion is shared by many top professionals, including Nicholas Carpenter, who similarly chose the standard Bb fingering option. There are a total of 4 barrels, 2 for each clarinet. The supplied Yamaha double case is also in excellent condition. Them 'piece is a mint condition Selmer C85 120. This pair represents superb value for money, with a refined tone and superb intonation.
